About this tool

The image is encoded by your browser's built-in WebP encoder at the quality you choose. Transparency from PNG files is kept. Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari display WebP. If a browser cannot encode WebP, it may produce a PNG instead, so check the file type of the download. Because the image is redrawn on a canvas, metadata such as EXIF camera details and GPS location is not copied to the new file.
