JPG to PNG
Convert a JPEG image to PNG, for example before editing it several times or when a form only accepts PNG.
Your input stays in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
About this tool
The JPEG is decoded and saved as a lossless PNG with the same dimensions. Converting cannot restore detail that JPEG compression has already removed, and PNG files of photos are usually several times larger than the JPEG. The benefit is that later edits and re-saves do not add new compression loss. Because the image is redrawn on a canvas, metadata such as EXIF camera details and GPS location is not copied to the new file.
How to use it
- Choose a JPEG file.
- Check the preview and the new file size.
- Download the PNG.
Examples
Editing workflow
Convert once to PNG, make several edits, then export a final JPEG or WebP at the end, instead of re-saving JPEG each time.
File size
A 1.5 MB JPEG photo can become a PNG several times larger. That is normal for lossless storage.
