Slug Generator
Turn an article or product title into a short, readable URL slug.
Your input stays in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
About this tool
The title is Unicode-normalized so that accents can be stripped (é becomes e, ç becomes c), then lowercased. Any run of characters that is not a Latin letter, digit, or Arabic letter becomes a single hyphen, and hyphens at the start and end are removed. Arabic letters are kept, since Arabic URLs are valid and readable for Arabic-speaking users. Other scripts, such as Cyrillic or Chinese, are removed, so check the result for those.
How to use it
- Paste the title.
- Copy the slug.
- Shorten it by removing filler words if it is long.
Examples
French title
"Crème brûlée : la recette facile" becomes "creme-brulee-la-recette-facile".
Punctuation
"10 Tips & Tricks (2026)" becomes "10-tips-tricks-2026".
FAQ
Should I remove stop words like "the" and "a"?
It is optional. Shorter slugs are easier to read and share, but clarity matters more than length.
Why was my Cyrillic title removed?
Only Latin letters, digits, and Arabic letters are kept. Transliterate other scripts first.
Should I change slugs of published pages?
Avoid it. If you must, add a permanent (301) redirect from the old URL.
