About this calculator
A time card converts clock times into paid hours. Unpaid breaks are subtracted. If the end time is earlier than the start time, the calculator treats the shift as crossing midnight.
How to calculate
Enter clock-in and clock-out. Add unpaid break minutes if needed. Optionally enter an hourly wage to see gross pay for that shift.
Hours = (clock-out − clock-in − unpaid break) / 60
Gross pay = hours × hourly wage
Examples
09:00 to 17:30 with a 30-minute break
Elapsed time is 8.5 hours. After the break, paid time is 8.0 hours.
FAQ
Does this calculate overtime?
It reports total hours only. Apply overtime rules from your workplace to hours above the daily or weekly threshold.
What about a night shift?
If you clock out after midnight, use an end time such as 06:00. The calculator adds 24 hours when the end is earlier than the start.
